MOSCOW, March 18 – RIA Novosti. The vast majority of Russians (86%) consider the decision to return Crimea to the Russian Federation correct, 56% are proud when they hear about the reunification of the peninsula with the country, according to the results of a VTsIOM survey. According to the study, 86% of Russians are convinced of the correctness of the decision to accept the peninsula as part of Russia, of which 53% say that Crimea is a predominantly Russian land, 9% cite the will of the Crimeans as reason, 6% – national identity. More than half of the country’s citizens (56%) are proud to hear about the reunification of Crimea with Russia, 14% admire the decision, 5% have negative emotions about this event, and one in five n have no feelings. Moreover, 71% of citizens see more benefits for Russia than harm from the annexation of Crimea, and 76% believe that the region began to develop more successfully when it became part of the Russian Federation. More than half of respondents remembered the projects, one of the most recognizable being the construction of the Crimean Bridge (46%). The All-Russian telephone survey “VTsIOM-Sputnik” was conducted on March 14, 2023 among 1.6 thousand Russians aged 18 and over. The marginal error with a probability of 95% does not exceed 2.5%.
