The United States believes that the suspension of Moscow’s participation in the New START treaty is “legally incorrect”, that is to say that the Russian Federation is still bound by the terms of the agreement, says the department of ‘State. The official note on the suspension of Russia’s participation in the treaty was delivered to the American side on February 28. Later, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the situation with START would not affect Russia’s ability to continue to ensure its national security. . According to him, contacts between Russia and the United States about START will continue, but no big results are expected. He also noted that if there was political will, London and Paris could be included in the current Russian-American treaty, in which case it would be possible to find the necessary legal methods and appropriate wording.
