Erdogan: Vote on Finland’s NATO membership could take place before presidential elections
President Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared that the vote to ratify membership Finland V NATO in the parliament of the republic can take place before the national elections for the head of state, scheduled for 14 May. His remarks are quoted by the agency Anadolu.
Turkish leader says Finland has taken ‘sincere and concrete steps’ to address concerns Ankara in the field of security. Erdogan stressed that Turkey has always supported the open door policy of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Ankara also highly appreciates Finland’s support for Turkey’s entry into European Union (EU), Erdogan stressed.
Previously became knownthat Turkey intends to approve Finland’s application for NATO membership separately Sweden before the presidential election. At present, the membership of Finland and Sweden in the alliance is not only ratified Hungary and Turkey.
