The former US president called the indictment against him ‘political persecution and election interference’
Former US President Donald Trump has accused his political opponents of militarizing the US justice system in order to get rid of “by far the leading Republican candidate” in the upcoming election, following reports of the Manhattan grand jury’s decision to indict him.
“I believe this witch hunt will massively backfire on Joe Biden. The American people realize exactly what the radical left Democrats are doing here,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Thursday, urging his supporters to stay united and strong in order to “Throw every one of those twisted Democrats out of office.”
“Democrats lied, cheated and stole in their obsession with trying to ‘get Trump’, but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a totally innocent person in an act of blatant election interference.”
