The United States resumed drone flights over the Black Sea on Friday following the incident with the MQ-9 Reaper drone, Reuters reported, citing two unnamed US officials. According to him, the American RQ-4 Global Hawk drone flew in the region. One of the officials “added that this was the first such drone flight since Tuesday’s incident,” the agency said in a statement. It should be noted that the Pentagon has repeatedly stated that the incident with the MQ-9 Reaper will not prevent Washington from carrying out such missions. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on Tuesday morning an American MQ-9 drone with turned off transponders violated the borders of the zone of the temporary regime for the use of airspace over the Black Sea. The drone was heading towards the Russian border, Russian fighters were lifted into the air to identify the intruder. Following sudden maneuvers, the drone went into uncontrolled flight with a loss of altitude and fell into the water. The Russian fighters did not come into contact with the MQ-9, did not use airborne weapons and returned safely to their home airfield, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
