US State Department says suspension of Russia’s participation in START ‘legally incorrect’
US State Department refused to recognize the suspension Russia participation in the Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty (START). It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The U.S. Department called the decision Moscow “legally incorrect” and said Russia is still “bound by obligations under the treaty”.
The US State Department said it was ready to meet with the Russian side to resolve issues, saying there were no obstacles to inspections under the deal.
“Russian inspectors have the necessary visas…There are no such sanctions that would prevent Russia from fully enjoying inspection rights,” the State Department said.
