The Russian band Shortparis has released a track for the song “Oh, how black the sky is”, which features footage from the film “Tchaikovsky’s Wife” by Kirill Serebrennikov.

An excerpt from the film begins with a scene in which composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s wife, Antonina Milyukova (played by Alena Mikhailova), learns that her husband has died. In the background, the song of Shortparis “Oh, that the sky is black”, which appeared in the soundtrack of the film, resounds. The song is inspired by the poem “In a bitter moment”, which the poet Alexei Apukhtin wrote in 1859, writing “Attach”.

The premiere of the film “Tchaikovsky’s Wife” took place in May 2022 as part of the main program of the Cannes Film Festival. The film is set in Russia in the second half of the 19th century. The main character is the wife of composer Antonin Milyukov, who cannot come to terms with Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s homosexuality, because of which she goes mad.

The film starred Odin Byron, Alena Mikhailova, Oksimiron, Alexander Gorchilin, Filipp Avdeev, Varvara Shmykova, Vladimir Mishukov.
