MOSCOW, March 31 – RIA Novosti. Fraudsters have come up with a new scheme to steal money from a subscriber by conducting an “online interview” with him and sending false messages about the transfer of funds during this period – cases of fraud from a amount of up to 10,000 rubles are registered, the director of prevention of fraud and loss of income told RIA Novosti “Megaphone” Sergey Khrenov. The meeting itself, according to the expert, lasts half an hour, during which the “recruiter” enters into the trust of the victim, and then asks the interlocutor to check the activity of the bank account on which the salaries will be paid. “To do this, the victim is asked to share a screen, open a banking app and transfer a certain amount to their own cellphone account,” Khrenov explained. Also, after a successful transaction, the attacker makes a “job offer” to the victim and sends an SMS to “return” the funds from the mobile phone to the bank account. The text contains the correct amount of the transfer, but the subscriber does not see exactly where the money is transferred. “He confirms the transfer in a reply SMS – and the money from the mobile account goes to scammers. Now there are cases of theft of up to 10,000 rubles in this way,” the expert concluded.

“Under the guise of employees of recruitment agencies, they (crooks – editor’s note) call and offer highly paid remote work. To talk about a vacancy, a potential victim is offered to call on Skype or Zoom, where she can show a presentation,” he said.
The meeting itself, according to the expert, lasts half an hour, during which time the “recruiter” enters into the victim’s trust, and then asks the interlocutor to check the activity of the bank account on which the wages will be accumulated.
