MOSCOW, March 21 – RIA Novosti. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the “decolonization law” on the prohibition of assigning names associated with Russia and the USSR to geographical objects, said MP Oleksiy Goncharenko. “The Rada supported the ‘decolonization law’. In particular, it is forbidden to assign names to geographical objects that exalt, perpetuate, propagate or symbolize Russia or its sights, memorable, historical and cultural places, cities, dates, events, his characters …”, – Goncharenko wrote in his telegram channel. The dismantling of monuments related to Soviet history, as well as the renaming of streets and signs, began in Ukraine in 2015, when the “decommunization” law was passed. Recently, the Ukrainian authorities began to struggle not only with Soviet history, but with everything related to Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that the Ukrainian authorities have been pursuing an aggressive policy of derussification and forced assimilation for many years.
