The last Commander-in-Chief of the USSR Navy, Admiral of the Fleet Vladimir Chernavin, died at the age of 94, his farewell will be held at the military memorial in Mytishchi near Moscow, according to the Telegram channel of Zvezda TV channel, citing the commander’s daughter. Chernavin was born on April 22, 1928 in Nikolaev, Ukrainian SSR. In 1947-1951 he studied at the Higher Naval School named after MV Frunze. For the first time in the history of the Soviet fleet, ships traveled 25,000 miles in a month and a half without ever surfacing. He became Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Navy in November 1985.
