MOSCOW, March 31 – RIA Novosti. Implementing peace plans for the situation in Ukraine is now impossible, since Kiev cannot disobey its conservatives who insist on continuing the war, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary to the President of the Russian Federation, told reporters. Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, addressing the people and parliament with a message, offered to stop hostilities in Ukraine and declare a truce. “The President (of the Russian Federation) himself said that he discussed the plan itself, its individual arrangements, but we hardly think it appropriate to compare these two sets of ideas. I mean the one that was voiced by (PRC) President Xi, and the one that President Lukashenko just talked about,” Peskov said, answering the question about the format of the truce – proposed by Belarus or China – which the Kremlin considers most preferable. Peskov also said that Beijing’s plan cannot be implemented now. “They (some provisions of the plan – editor’s note) are not being implemented at the moment due to the reluctance, or rather the inability of the Ukrainian side to disobey its conservatives, its commanders. And these commanders, as we know, are not in kyiv and insisting that the war continue,” he added. The Chinese authorities proposed their peace plan in February. It contains 12 points, including calls for a ceasefire, respect for the legitimate interests of all countries in the field of security and the resolution of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, many points of the Chinese peace plan can serve as the basis for a settlement when they are ready for it in the West and in kyiv.
