Italian investigators have identified 4-5 people who helped Krasnoyarsk governor’s son Artem Uss escape from house arrest in Milan, La Repubblica reports.
According to the publication, a task force, in which there were at least ten people, took part in the escape from Uss. Investigators believe there were 6 to 7 participants in the operation.
Investigators say these people helped Uss get from Milan to the Italian city of Trieste in a matter of hours, changing several cars along the way. There, Uss crossed the Slovenian border with false documents, after which he went to Serbia, from where he probably flew to Russia.
La Repubblica also notes that the Italian authorities are investigating the possible involvement of Russian intelligence services in the escape from the Uss. According to the investigators, it was the special services that organized and directed the whole operation.
Artem Uss was arrested in October 2022 at Washington’s request at Milan airport. In the United States, he is charged with sanctions violations and money laundering. In March, an Italian court allowed extradite Uss to the United States, and the next day the son of the governor of Krasnoyarsk escaped from house arrest. At the beginning of April became knownthat Uss returned to Russia, where he was arrested in absentia in a money laundering case. Later, Uss’ attorney said the court had changed his client’s preventive measure to a written undertaking not to leave.
