The adopted draft treaty is in line with extradition agreements Thailand has with other countries, Thai government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek said. She noted that the deal with Russia does not require parliamentary approval.

On February 10, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the Russian government’s proposal to sign an agreement with Thailand on the mutual extradition of wanted and criminally prosecuted persons.
