MADRID, April 12 – RIA Novosti. More than a thousand Ukrainian soldiers follow or have already been trained in Spain, which will not stop supporting Kiev, said Wednesday the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom Margarita Robles during a press conference with her Ukrainian counterpart Alexei Reznikov. In addition, Robles assured that six Spanish Leopard 2A4 battle tanks, as well as 20 armored personnel carriers, will arrive on Ukrainian territory by the end of this month. In early April, the Minister attended a graduation ceremony for nearly 200 Ukrainian soldiers who completed their training at the Infantry Academy in Toledo. Earlier, Spain announced that it had the capacity to train 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers per year. The course curriculum agreed with Ukraine focused on five areas: basic fighter training, marksmanship training, combat training in populated areas, first aid and anti-IED and anti-mine skills, a said the ministry. In January, Prime Minister of the Kingdom Pedro Sanchez said that since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, the government of his country had allocated more than 300 million euros for military assistance to Kyiv. Additionally, the Spanish government announced in early November that it had sent anti-missile and air defense systems to Ukraine, including six Hawk launchers and an Aspide anti-aircraft system. Russia has already sent a note to NATO countries because of the supply of arms to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any shipment containing weapons destined for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Federation’s Foreign Ministry said NATO countries were “playing with fire” by supplying arms to Ukraine. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping Ukraine with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect.
