On Wednesday, at the initiative of the American side, telephone conversations between Shoigu and Austin took place. “During the conversation, it was noted that the flights of American strategic unmanned aerial vehicles off the coast of Crimea are provocative in nature, which creates preconditions for an escalation of the situation in the area of ​​the Black Sea,” the ministry said. The ministry added that “the Russian Federation is not interested in such a development of events, but it will continue to respond proportionally to all provocations.” At the same time, the department notes, the major nuclear powers should act as responsibly as possible, including maintaining military channels of communication to discuss any crisis situations. US strategic Global Hawk drones regularly fly in the Black Sea facing the southern coast of Crimea. According to Flightradar24, since the start of the special operation, these drones have already carried out more than 110 flights off Crimea. On average, over the past period, US drones have visited the region 8 to 13 times per month, carrying out reconnaissance flights lasting up to 10 hours.
