MOSCOW, February 13 – RIA Novosti. The volume of overseas travel bookings for the summer period (May-October) could fall by 10-25% compared to the previous year, one of the reasons being the lack of flights from Russia, Maya Lomidze, head of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), said. According to the data reflected in the presentation of the head of the ATOR, the volume of reservations of tourist trips of the Russian Federation abroad may decrease by 10-25% this summer. “We expect a slight drop in the volume of bookings in the summer in the outbound market. This may be due to transport. Now an increase in transport on mass routes is being discussed. This is an extremely important aspect which directly affects the occupancy and demand that we can meet,” Lomidze commented at the Russian Express Day event. However, such a drop in demand, she says, does not mean a drop in sales. “Demand will be redistributed… We expect strong growth in the domestic market,” she said. The most popular destinations for the summer season will be led by Russia itself, as well as Turkey, Abkhazia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
