MOSCOW, March 19 – RIA Novosti. Russia, which increased its goods exports in 2022 to $591.5 billion, moved up two positions among the world’s top exporters on the year and ranked tenth, according to RIA Novosti calculations based on data from national statistical services. China ($3.6 trillion), the United States ($2.1 trillion) and Germany ($1.7 trillion) remained the world’s largest exporters of goods last year. The Netherlands, which supplied $760.6 billion worth of products to world markets, fell from fifth to fourth place, overtaking Japan, whose shipments totaled $747.6 billion. South Korea remained in sixth place, exporting goods worth $683.6 billion. Italy (657.2 billion), France (626.7) and Canada (599) moved up a spot to seventh, eighth and ninth respectively, thanks to Hong Kong’s fall from seventh to 11th place. Saudi Arabia, which moved up six terms in a year to 19th place, and Norway, which moved up to 28th from 33rd, increased their positions the most. Belgium moved up a rank to become the world’s 16th largest exporter. Australia also improved their position, moving from 20th to 18th place, and Indonesia, which took 26th place from 28th. Switzerland slipped out of the second of the ten largest suppliers of goods, which took 21st place, and Ireland fell from third, falling one place to 31st. Overall, the top 30 exporters in 2022 increased the supply of goods to the global market by 10.2%, to $19.98 trillion. The strongest export growth was recorded by Norway (+68%) and Saudi Arabia (+48.3%). The only economies whose exports fell were Japan (-1.3%) and Hong Kong (-9.2%). The study was conducted by RIA Novosti based on data from the national statistical services of the world’s 60 largest economies. The final sample for publication included 30 economies that as of mid-March had disclosed data for January to December last year. Data is presented in US dollars. If the statistical service only provides information in national currency, the monthly or annual data have been recalculated at the average exchange rate for the period.
