MINSK, March 15 – RIA Novosti. Prosecutor General of Belarus Andrey Shved said that Russia had handed over to the Belarusian side Wehrmacht documents containing previously unknown information about the punitive operations. “From them (Wehrmacht documents handed over by the Russian side – editor’s note) we learned about dozens of places of mass extermination of people hitherto unknown. We learned that punitive operations were carried out which were not previously known,” the Belarusian press service said. The attorney general’s office quoted Shved as saying. In particular, in one of the translated documents it is stated that the punitive operation “Monkey in a Cage” was not carried out anywhere. “Vitebsk region, at the end of the forty-third year, according to Wehrmacht documents, it follows that they destroyed dozens of settlements and, as they themselves write, at least 14,000 partisans, that is, civilians. And nowhere, in any of our documents, does information appear about this punitive operation. Moreover, they documented the consumption of their ammunition with such scruple,” said said Shved.
