The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed a law on the ratification of an agreement between the government of the republic and the government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the development of transport of certain types of goods through corridors transport crossing the territories of the two countries. The law is published on the national legal Internet portal of Belarus. Earlier in March, the bill was ratified by the Belarusian parliament. With the signing of the law, Belarus has completed the national procedure for ratifying the agreement. Earlier, the Ministry of Transport of Belarus explained that the document provides for the creation of alternative routes for the supply of Belarusian products for export: the transportation of goods to third countries will be carried out both through Russian seaports and by land transport infrastructure. Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said that the agreement also guarantees the volume of transportation of exporters’ products by container trains in transit through Russia to China until 2024. Relations between Belarus and the countries western countries deteriorated sharply after the 2020 presidential elections, which caused unauthorized mass demonstrations, which, among other things, were suppressed by law enforcement using special equipment and special equipment . Western countries and a number of other states have gradually imposed sanctions on Belarusian officials and companies, accusing Minsk of election violations and human rights abuses. A new step in the extension of Western sanctions against Belarus has occurred due to Minsk’s support for the Russian military special operation in Ukraine. Minsk is rebuilding trade logistics due to Western sanctions and events in Ukraine.
