MOSCOW, April 8 – RIA Novosti. Up to 35,000 Yunarmiya members from different regions of Russia took part in the “Return the Name to the Hero” action, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters on Saturday. “Yunarmy members from all over the country continue to join the large-scale all-Russian campaign “Return the name to the hero”, timed to coincide with the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. 34,989 young members and more than 43,000 citizens have already taken part in the action, who have supported their good initiative, “- said the department. As noted in the department, the start of the All-Russian action on the monuments and memorials of the defenders of the Fatherland was donated by the Youth Army of Moscow and the Moscow region, Rostov-on-Don, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Sevastopol and Vladivostok, and then the whole country joined.The participants of the movement put order over obelisks, memorials and military graves, distribute cards with information about heroes to passers-by, invite everyone to join in the action.Yunarmiya members also share stories of how they research archival information on fallen defenders of the fatherland, establish the names of fallen heroes, and help perpetuate their memory. The action “Restore the name of the hero” aims to preserve the military history of our Fatherland and the continuity of the traditions of all generations to defend the Fatherland. In total, since the start of the action, 1716 obelisks and memorials, 1847 military graves, 1075 Eternal Lights and Memory Lights have been put in order. “On the eve of the 78th anniversary of Victory, Yunarmiya calls on all who are not indifferent to join in the work of caring for military graves, obelisks and memorials. In recognition of the importance of the historical memory of those who sacrificed themselves for the future, on May 9 in the Eternal Lights and the Lights of Memory, the No. 1 posts of the Youth Army will be installed throughout Russia,” the Ministry of Defense added.
