Kyiv-appointed authorities in the Kherson region promise to get rid of the Russian language in the region, said the head of the Ukrainian-appointed regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin. The Kherson region became part of Russia as a result of a referendum held there. At the same time, the Ukrainian side does not recognize its legitimacy and continues to bombard the region. Currently, 75% of the territory of the Kherson region is under Russian control, and part on the right bank of the Dnieper, including Kherson, remains under Ukrainian control. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that the Ukrainian authorities have been pursuing an aggressive policy of derussification and forced assimilation for many years. He noted that Russia wants to see friendly Ukraine, without banning Russian language and culture.
