MOSCOW, March 19 – RIA Novosti. Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to publish ‘scandalous’ evidence exonerating him from partying during the coronavirus pandemic, the Telegraph newspaper has reported, citing sources. “Boris Johnson is preparing to release ‘scoopy’ evidence which he claims exonerates him from the party case,” the source said in a statement. The evidence will include messages from advisers to the former Prime Minister telling him that no anti-Covid rules were broken over the holidays, the sources said. Sky News previously reported that Johnson will give evidence to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee on March 22 in the parties’ case during the coronavirus pandemic as part of an ongoing investigation. If the former Prime Minister is found to have misled Parliament, he can be suspended from his duties in the House of Commons for ten days, which can be used as a pretext to file a petition to withdraw his parliamentary mandate . In late June 2022, the House of Commons cross-party Parliamentary Privileges Committee announced it was seeking witnesses and evidence to help establish whether Johnson had misled Parliament over his party covid scandal. In early March, the commission published a report detailing four cases where the former prime minister was able to mislead parliament about covid parties. The scandal erupted around parties at the Downing Street government residence during the nationwide coronavirus lockdown. The situation worsened when it was revealed that two more parties had taken place on April 16, 2021 – on the eve of Prince Philip’s funeral, while restrictions were still in place in the UK and national mourning was declared in the country. Johnson later apologized and said he had paid the fine issued by the Metropolitan Police.

Johnson is preparing ‘sensational’ evidence of his innocence
“Boris Johnson is set to release ‘outrageous’ evidence which he claims exonerates him from the party case,” the source said in a statement.
The evidence will include messages from advisers to the former Prime Minister telling him that no anti-Covid rules were broken over the holidays, the sources said.
“
“The fact is that he told Parliament what he considered to be the truth at that time. There is documentary evidence which will show that he was advised to say what he said,” said the source to the newspaper.
Sky News previously reported that Johnson will give evidence to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee on March 22 in the parties’ case during the coronavirus pandemic as part of an ongoing investigation. If the former Prime Minister is found to have misled Parliament, he could be suspended from his duties in the House of Commons for ten days, which could be used as a pretext to file a petition to withdraw his parliamentary mandate.
In late June 2022, the House of Commons all-party Parliamentary Privileges Committee announced it was seeking witnesses and evidence to help establish whether Johnson had misled Parliament over his party covid scandal. In early March, the commission published a report detailing four cases where the former prime minister was able to mislead parliament about covid parties.
The scandal erupted around parties at the Downing Street government residence during a nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
