The agency said Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had ordered to be on high alert for unforeseen situations, as well as to ensure the safety of ships and planes. North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from the outskirts of Pyongyang in an easterly direction at 7:09 a.m. (1:09 a.m. Moscow time), the Japanese Defense Ministry reported earlier. The rocket flew for about 70 minutes and at 8:19 a.m. (2:19 a.m. Moscow time), presumably, fell 200 kilometers from the island of Oshima in Hokkaido, outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. The flight range, according to the Japanese military, was 1000 kilometers, the maximum flight altitude was 6000 kilometers. As part of the launch of the ICBM, the Prime Minister of Japan announced the convening of a meeting of the National Security Council with the participation of key ministers. Earlier it was reported that the missile was fired, presumably, along an articulated trajectory at a large vertical angle. Due to this, the flight altitude is increased and the range is reduced. This is the sixth launch of a North Korean ballistic missile this year. In the past, it has carried out 37 such launches. North Korea launched the Hwaseong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile on February 18. The rocket was launched along a hinged trajectory, that is, at a vertical angle it reached a height of 5768 kilometers, traveled 989 kilometers in 4015 seconds and fell into the sea from the Japan. North Korea called the launch a “sudden exercise”. It is believed to be the first time that Pyongyang, without preparation or warning, ordered its military to launch a North Korean ICBM.
