An employee of the Hermitage Museum, seeing a man falling through the ice on the Neva, quickly informed the emergency services, they managed to save him, RIA Novosti told the museum’s press service. The incident happened on Friday. “Around 09:00, an employee of the Hermitage noticed a man walking on the ice of the Winter Canal. He was heading towards the Neva. Then, being approximately in the middle of the river, the man approached the edge of the ice and began lowering his bag into the water, then fell into the water. Dialed the number 112 and reported the incident,” the news service said. According to the museum, emergency services and an ambulance arrived at the scene some time later. The man was pulled out of the water safe and sound.
