The Telegraph: Ukrainian armed forces use 19th century Maxim machine guns in Artemivsk region
Armed forces Ukraine (AFU) in the front line in the Artemivsk region (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) use machine guns of the 19th century due to the lack of modern weapons. On this subject became known British newspaper The Telegraph.
Soldiers in bunkers fire Maxim machine guns associated with the colonial era and World War I, amid a shortage of modern weapons. It is specified that the rate of fire is 600 rounds per minute.
Vladislav, a 27-year-old Ukrainian soldier, told the newspaper that he often saw “Maxim” in fixed positions. The interlocutor called the century-old machine guns formidable weapons that can be very effective in skilled hands.
Previously reportedthat in Ukraine, at the beginning of 2022, more than 30,000 century-old Maxim machine guns were removed from storage.
