MOSCOW, March 18 – RIA Novosti. Unionized trainees The British Medical Association (BMA) and the government are set to start pay negotiations after a three-day strike, Sky News reports, citing a statement from the country’s Department of Health. On Wednesday in the UK began a massive strike by workers in various fields, including civil servants, London Underground machinists, trainees and teachers. “We are pleased that the BMA (…) has accepted our offer to enter into negotiations,” said the British Ministry of Health quoting the television channel. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry noted that it regrets the cancellation of around 175,000 patient appointments and procedures nationwide due to prolonged protests by healthcare workers. The medical association, in turn, said it was ready to call a strike again if the authorities offered “unsatisfactory” conditions. The union advocates bringing wages in line with 2008 standards. In this case, the British authorities will have to allocate 1 billion pounds in addition to the 4 billion which, according to London, are needed to increase the salaries of medical staff. In the United Kingdom, we are witnessing a wave of strikes against a backdrop of record inflation in the country. Railway workers, lawyers, airport workers, postal workers and workers from other regions come out to protest. After the start of the Russian Federation’s special operation in Ukraine, the West increased sanctions pressure on Russia. Disrupted supply chains have pushed up fuel and food prices in Europe and the United States. In the UK, the rising cost of living has affected millions of households.
