Russian State Duma Deputy Nikolai Novichkov noted that African countries are well aware of the goals of Russia’s special operation, which is being carried out to ensure that countries pursue an independent policy. The second international parliamentary conference “Russia – Africa” is taking place in Moscow on March 19 and 20. The conference brings together representatives of the scientific, educational and expert communities of Russia and African countries, deputies of the State Duma, heads of federal executive bodies, senators of the Federation Council, chairmen of bodies legislative bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, representatives of the business community. More than 40 delegations from most African countries are participating in the conference. “They understand very well what is happening in the world right now. They understand very well the objectives of a special military operation, that there is a war not for territory, not for influence in the world, but there is a war going on for countries that want to pursue an independent policy to pursue this policy,” he told reporters.According to the parliamentarian, African countries have not yet been given real sovereignty and they are largely dependent on Western influence, which they want to get rid of. Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal “the protection of people who have been victims of intimidation and genocide by the regime of Kiev for eight years”.
