German Justice Minister Bushman promises to arrest Putin if he visits Germany
Ministry of Justice Germany Marco Bushman has sworn to arrest the President of Russia Vladimir Poutine in case of his visit to Germany. About his intention said in an interview with Die Zeit.
Bushman noted that he would comply with International Criminal Court (ICC) demands for Putin’s “arrest” if “his foot sets foot on German territory.” According to him, Berlin will be required to comply with the court order.
“The ICC will promptly contact Interpol and require an application. Then Germany will be forced to arrest President Putin and hand him over to the ICC if he enters German territory,” the German official assured.
Germany is on the list of ICC member states and must arrest the wanted persons and transfer them to The Haguesays in the material.
Former Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz welcomed the decision of the ICC, which issued an arrest warrant against Putin. Scholz said the ICC is the institution responsible for investigating war crimes. The politician noted that “no one can be above the law”.
