SUKHUM, April 12 – RIA Novosti. Georgia’s special services have intensified their recruitment of residents of Abkhazia, the republic’s State Security Service (SSS) reported on Wednesday. According to the department, the practice of ongoing counterintelligence activities indicates that one of the main areas of activity of the Georgian special services is Abkhazia, and this is due to Georgia’s plans to undermine the independence and the sovereignty of the republic. The Georgian special services use, among other things, a complex spy system, the components of which are the infiltration apparatus, informants among citizens and residents of Abkhazia, the State Security Service pointed out. “I would like to warn our citizens and residents of Abkhazia and pay attention to the tendency and activation of the special services of Georgia aimed at recruiting activities. As a result of the thoughtless actions of some citizens, the interests of the country and its safety. Above all, I would like to warn the young generation of the republic, as well as the socially unprotected sections of society and remind of criminal responsibility,” the message reads. It should be noted that the priority tasks of Georgian special services are the tasks of infiltrating the main state law enforcement institutions of Abkhazia, as well as the environment of political leaders, employees of executive and legislative authorities. “Official Tbilisi seeks to obtain data on the political, economic and military spheres, on the location of military installations, on their movement, on the qualitative and quantitative composition”, emphasizes the State Security Service. As indicated by the department, the most favorable place for recruiting residents of Abkhazia is the channel of entry and exit through the Ingur checkpoint on the border with Georgia. “The reinforcement by the security authorities of Abkhazia of access control measures at the Ingur checkpoint has contributed to the prevention of attacks on our national interests”, specifies the State Security Service.
