HELSINKI, March 17 – RIA Novosti. Finland’s membership of the North Atlantic Alliance is important for the northern country, which is grateful to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan for the decision to start ratification, but without Sweden, Finland’s membership in NATO will not be complete, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö said at a joint press conference with the Turkish President in Ankara. “It’s good to hear your news about NATO. We heard that the Turkish parliament is starting to work on the ratification of Finland’s NATO membership… We have Sweden as a neighbour. I say this now not only because they are good neighbours: Finland’s membership in NATO will not be complete until Sweden is included as well. We need all 32 members,” said Finnish President. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Friday that the country’s parliament has started the process of ratifying Finland’s application for NATO membership.
