A representative office of the Gagauz autonomy could be opened in Moscow with the help of the opposition Shor party in Moldova, the leader of the political force Ilan Shor said on Saturday. On Saturday, in the capital of the Gagauz autonomy, the city of Comrat, a meeting was held with the voters of the candidate for the head of the Shor party region, Yevgenia Hutsul. “We came to you in Gagauzia with a well-defined program. On Monday, April 3, the Central Electoral Commission of the Gagauz Autonomy of Moldova finally approved the complete list of candidates for the election of the head (bashkan) of the region and their order on the ballot. All candidates for the post of leader of Gagauzia have opened bank accounts marked “election fund”. They also signed a code of ethics, pledging to run a fair campaign. Among the registered candidates are the deputies of the National Assembly (local parliament) Nikolay Dudoglo, Grigory Uzun, Sergey Chimpoesh, former head of the region Mihail Formuzal, ex-head of the autonomy, former Moldovan ambassador to Turkey Dmitry Kroitor, head of the movement “People’s Union of Gagaouzia” Viktor Petrov, ex-deputy of the Parliament Sergei Chernev, candidate of the opposition party Shor in Moldova Evgenia Gutsul. All of them, in accordance with the law, were tested for knowledge of the Gagauz language. Gagauzia is an autonomous territorial entity in southern Moldova. In February 2014, an autonomous referendum was held on the issue of determining the vector of the country’s foreign policy. More than 98% of its participants were in favor of integrating Moldova into the customs union – a trade and economic association, which at the time included Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
