VLADIVOSTOK, March 18 – RIA Novosti. Counselor of the Lithuanian Embassy in Russia Ugnius Labutis arrived in Vladivostok to visit the city, the diplomat told RIA Novosti. Asked by RIA Novosti whether he had come to Vladivostok as an adviser to the Lithuanian embassy, the diplomat did not answer. “First, I’m planning to move in,” he added, answering the agency’s question about what he wants to see first in Vladivostok. The Lithuanian diplomat was greeted with placards by activists who expressed their attitude towards Lithuania’s policy, towards the Baltic country’s supply of arms to Ukraine. “This country supports them, sends arms there, sends ammunition there,” said one of the coastal activists. Responding to the question of how he relates to the statements of people from Primorye who met him, Ugnius Labutis said that everyone can express their opinion. In the past two weeks, this is the second visit to Vladivostok by European diplomats. In early March, it was reported that British Ambassador to Russia Deborah Bronnert had arrived in the city, but had no formal meetings with authorities scheduled here. Later, the British Embassy in Russia said Bronnert was in Vladivostok to honor the memory of British Army soldiers who died in World War I. Lithuania lowered the level of its diplomatic relations with Russia and also dismissed its ambassador from Moscow in April 2022. In October, Sergei Ryabokon, Russian charge d’affaires in Lithuania, was also declared persona non grata.
