PARIS, March 26 – RIA Novosti. More than 100 environmental activists were arrested on Saturday for a blockade at the airport in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, the Royal Netherlands Police said. On Saturday, climate activists Scientist Rebellion and Extinction Rebellion blocked the entrance to the private departures area of the Dutch airport in Eindhoven. “The protest at Eindhoven airport is over. The Royal Military Police have arrested 104 people,” police said in a statement on Twitter. Earlier it was reported that campaigners had called for a ban on private jets and an end to short flights. According to them, “a private plane emits much more greenhouse gases than an ordinary commercial plane”. On March 11, climate activists from the organization Extinction Rebellion blocked one of The Hague’s main highways, the A12 highway. They were protesting against government subsidies for mining. Dutch police used water cannons to disperse protesters.
